Construction Scheduling
A detailed schedule is the map through the maze of construction activities.
The information developed in the estimate also becomes the basis for a detailed construction schedule. The material lists and quantities taken off of the drawings are used to calculate the time required to purchase and install those items. Once that list is complete, all of the procurement and construction activities are linked together in a logical sequence. This sequence of construction activities becomes the project schedule.
Every project follows the same general construction process. However, by careful planning a project manager and superintendent can often shorten a project by 30% to 50%. This results in significant savings to the client.
The completed schedule becomes a planning tool for the rest of the project. By updating the progress of each activity on a weekly basis, construction delays can be foreseen and course corrections made.
Costs from the estimate can also be linked to the schedule to assist in forecasting financial requirements.
